When We Leave God Out of Our Figuring

Let’s face it, our world is upside down.  If there’s anything that has come out in these past two-and a half years, it’s that the darkest evil, the most insane immorality, and shattering brokenness stalk humanity and the rest of creation.  Atheists, agnostics and followers of various of the world’s religions continue to turn to cult-like versions of “science” and humanism to save us. Maybe that’s expected. But what excuse do professing Christians have?

Do we still believe that the answers and solutions start with our Creator? (Proverbs 1:7) Do we have real belief that the Eternal One has ultimately got this?  That He is well aware of what is going down on earth right now? Because unlike the promises, conjectures and plans of men whether wicked or well-meaning, our God really does know, and He really does have this (Psalm 3).

Just like He had ancient Israel’s back at the Red Sea (Exodus 14), and Elisha’s when he was surrounded by the entire Syrian Army (2 Kings 6).  And don’t forget that He warned Joseph ahead of time to flee to Egypt with Mary and the child, Jesus in order to preserve Jesus’ life (Matt 2:13).  In fact, our God has guided history all along despite the evil plans of villains both human and not so human.

But we seem to have forgotten this.  And when it comes to interviews, articles, preaching, and many of the actions of the Christian world, that has become abundantly clear.  We range from not grasping the evil going on, to acting like it’s entirely on us to stop our current situation despite verbally declaring our belief in answered prayer and an all-powerful God.

That or we jump to straight to stuffing pieces into prophetic puzzles, desperate for them to fit somewhere. People, places and events. Because we are watching what appears to be the downfall of Western civilization as we have known it along with a complete paradigm shift across the entire world. The rise of something else is occurring. Political, religious, and national tectonic plates are shifting, causing 10.0 earthquakes in our personal worlds. And there the Book of Revelation does seem to be here with all the frightening events that entails.

It is true that we are watching transhumanist oligarchs and would-be-dictators that are on the level of archetypal James Bond villains rising up, coming out of the shadows, and revealing themselves.  There will be dark spiritual forces behind them, no doubt (Eph 6:12).

Add over-the-top surveillance framework and technology coming into play like we’ve never seen before, manufactured food shortages on the horizon, the apparent return of diseases and immorality straight out of Sodom and Gomorrah.

And it could well be. The start of it or the set up for it or a type of it.  Or it could be, as I’ve said before, a WWII moment. Another giant fast-tracked step to the end, but not quite there. But maybe pieces are still missing? And we can be so focused on what we assume to be true or what we’re told is true, that we may not be seeing what God intends us to see.  Or doing what He wants us to do.

By their fruits, you will know them. That goes for doctrines, philosophies and theories, too. If it doesn’t match the Bible or the ways of the God we see there, then we need to pull ourselves up and think about where we are going and what we are allowing ourselves to get sucked into.  We need to remember that God is ALWAYS in charge even though it is Satan’s world right now. And what we are experiencing now isn’t going to last forever. The end of our present evil world or not yet.

When we leave God out of our figuring out of arrogance, naivete, misplaced trust or fear take our eyes off God our Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the roles they have planned for us now and the a future kingdom.

Remember Proverbs 1:7: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge…” and

Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
